Although many companies and programs claim to provide healthy-living options and weight loss solutions for the youth of America, only JET’s Child Obesity Program offers an all-encompassing program to address the problem from its root causes. Comprehensive, large-participation models for preventing obesity and keeping children physically active have yet to emerge as the solution to childhood obesity. School-based programs are an ideal solution. Typically, this type of program cannot be implemented because of the cost implications for the schools.
The Childhood Obesity Program solves this problem and therefore provides children access to information, educational materials, support, interactive feedback, and physical activities in a safe, familiar, and healthy environment conducted by trained instructors. The Childhood Obesity Program is delivered in the places where the children spend the majority of their time in a way that is integrated into the fabric of their daily activities.
The Child Obesity Program's methodology is a hands-on, interactive approach that does not revolve only around sports, but helps children learn about alternative forms of lifetime physical activity. It promotes a comprehensive, systemic cultural change in a friendly, familiar environment while providing for medical intervention for the at-risk population when necessary.
The Childhood Obesity Program is a national effort to prepare all children and adolescents for active, healthy, and meaningful lives. It is a school-based resource for young people, parents, schoolteachers, administrators, coaches, and others who care about children and adolescent wellness and their physical and emotional development. JET provides a budget-neutral solution and support structure to positively impact the youth of America. Additionally, the Childhood Obesity Program encourages the whole family to participate at no cost with web tools, take-home educational materials, and family events.
The Childhood Obesity Program features obesity prevention and treatment utilizing nutritional, behavioral and physical activity. Treatment and care from nutrition counseling, physiotherapy, health education, and integrated care services from psychologists, registered nurses, social workers, and therapists are included in the program.
